Designated Safeguarding Lead role available at a thriving secondary school in Somerset.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure the safety and well-being of all students. This is a vital role in supporting a school that is committed to the best outcomes for every young person. The successful candidate will play a key role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the implementation and monitoring of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Act as the first point of contact for all safeguarding concerns.
  • Liaise with external agencies, including social services and the local authority.
  • Provide support and guidance to staff on safeguarding matters.
  • Attend and contribute to safeguarding meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all safeguarding incidents.
  • Promote a culture of safeguarding across the school community.
  • Support students and families through pastoral care and welfare initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant qualifications in safeguarding or child protection.
  • Experience in a similar role within an educational setting.
  • Excellent organisational, administrative, and ICT skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and proactively.

Preferred

  • Experience in working with vulnerable students.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice.
  • Experience with child protection procedures in a school environment.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
