The Opportunity:

As Director of Drama, you will lead and develop a vibrant drama programme that inspires creativity, confidence, and collaboration across all year groups. This role offers the chance to shape a dynamic department and deliver high-quality theatre experiences that enrich student life and nurture artistic excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a comprehensive drama curriculum that supports student growth and engagement.
  • Deliver high-quality theatre productions and co-curricular opportunities that enhance student participation and performance.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate drama across the curriculum and support student development.
  • Mentor and develop drama students, encouraging them to explore their talents and build confidence.
  • Manage departmental resources, budgets, and facilities to ensure the success of all drama-related activities.
  • Promote and represent the drama department within the school and wider community.
  • Support the school’s mission of inclusion and diversity through inclusive teaching and outreach activities.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align drama initiatives with school-wide goals and objectives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching drama and theatre production.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate students and staff.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • A passion for drama and the performing arts.
  • Commitment to fostering creativity, confidence, and collaboration in students.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a drama department or similar role.
  • Background in professional theatre or performance.
  • Experience in developing and delivering co-curricular drama activities.
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching practices and diversity initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum development and assessment in drama.
