The Opportunity:

As Director of Finance, you will lead the financial strategy and governance of a rapidly expanding trust. This role offers the chance to shape the long-term sustainability and impact of a large, ambitious organisation, while ensuring strong financial controls and compliance across all schools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a forward-looking financial strategy aligned with the Trust’s priorities
  • Provide authoritative financial and governance advice to the CEO, Board of Trustees, and senior stakeholders
  • Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring
  • Ensure robust financial controls, compliance, and audit processes are maintained
  • Lead long-term financial planning, capital strategy, and resource optimisation
  • Hold executive responsibility for governance frameworks, statutory compliance, and Board assurance
  • Ensure high-quality, timely, and transparent reporting to Trustees and regulators
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with Members, Trustees, and external stakeholders

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • CCAB-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent)
  • Significant experience operating at Executive or C-suite level
  • Strong track record in leading organisational financial strategy and performance
  • Proven ability to advise Boards and provide robust assurance
  • Experience in governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance

Preferred

  • Experience in leading and developing high-performing finance teams
  • Demonstrated success in delivering value for money and financial sustainability
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in education or not-for-profit sectors
