The Opportunity:

As Director of Science, you will lead and inspire a dedicated faculty to deliver high-quality science education across Key Stages 3–5. This is a strategic role that shapes the future of science teaching and learning, ensuring students achieve outstanding outcomes and staff continue to grow professionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a dynamic and forward-thinking Science faculty.
  • Deliver a compelling vision for Science education across Key Stages 3–5.
  • Drive curriculum innovation and assessment strategy to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Support staff through professional development and reflective practice.
  • Ensure all students achieve highly, regardless of their starting point.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Stay up to date with curriculum and assessment reforms to maintain high standards.
  • Promote inclusive excellence and ensure all students have access to quality science education.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a Science department.
  • Strong track record in delivering high academic outcomes.
  • In-depth knowledge of Science curriculum and assessment strategies.
  • Commitment to professional development and staff support.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with curriculum and assessment reform.
  • Background in leading department-wide innovation and change.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices.
  • Experience in a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting.
