The Opportunity:
A Drama Teacher - Maternity Cover is sought to join a dynamic and creative department. The role involves teaching Drama and Theatre Studies to students across multiple age groups, including GCSE and A Level courses. This is a fantastic opportunity to make an impact in a school committed to excellence in both academic and vocational education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach GCSE Drama and A Level Theatre Studies according to the Eduqas syllabus.
- Deliver vocational drama classes, including acting technique and theory, to students in the Preps, Performance Foundation, and Acting courses.
- Support vocational projects for public performances as required by the Director of Drama.
- Prepare and maintain detailed pupil progress reports and class registers.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and conferences to stay updated on teaching practices.
- Liaise with academic, pastoral, and administrative staff to support student learning and development.
- Promote student progress and ensure high standards of teaching and behaviour in the classroom.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Degree level qualification or relevant industry experience.
- Teaching experience in an academic setting; vocational experience is desirable.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Experience in planning and delivering secondary curriculum.
- Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively.
- Strong communication and time management skills.
- Commitment to professional development and equal opportunities.
Preferred
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience with Eduqas GCSE and A Level Drama and Theatre Studies syllabi.
- Experience in public performance and theatre production.
- ICT skills and experience with digital teaching tools.
