The Opportunity:

Join a dynamic team as an EAL Teacher, supporting students from Year 7 to 11 and Pre-A in developing their English language skills. This role is ideal for educators who are passionate about helping students thrive in an English language environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality English as an Additional Language instruction to students across multiple year groups.
  • Support students in achieving academic success through individual and small group teaching.
  • Integrate character development into lessons, encouraging teamwork, resilience, and critical thinking.
  • Contribute to the school’s extra-curricular programme and pastoral care initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative teaching methods and curriculum content.
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and inspiring classroom environment.
  • Support the school’s commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.
  • Engage with the boarding community and contribute to resident tutor duties.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven ability to teach EAL across KS3, KS4, and Pre-A.
  • An English teaching qualification such as a TEFL, CELTA, or DELTA, with relevant experience.
  • Capability to contribute to the school’s extra-curricular and pastoral care programmes.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and ICT skills.
  • Commitment to professional development and INSET attendance.
  • Awareness of the demands of teaching high-achieving students.
  • Full support for the integration and delivery of Character Education.
  • A professional and approachable demeanour.
  • Strong commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.

Preferred

  • Experience with teaching in a boarding school environment.
  • Flexibility to teach more than one subject discipline if required.
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and contribute to curriculum development.
  • Experience with enquiry-based learning approaches.
  • Understanding of the independent education sector.
