The Opportunity:
As a Food Technology Teacher, you will lead innovative, hands-on learning that empowers students with SEMH needs. You will design and deliver a curriculum that combines practical cookery, nutrition, and enterprise opportunities. This role offers the chance to make a real impact through meaningful, skills-based education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons tailored to students with SEMH needs.
- Develop enterprise-led initiatives such as student-run catering projects and community food events.
- Collaborate with pastoral teams to ensure a therapeutic and personalised learning experience.
- Build positive, consistent relationships with students to foster trust and engagement.
- Support students in developing confidence, independence, and employability skills.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and integrate them into the curriculum.
- Work flexibly within a 4-day working week model.
- Ensure a safe, structured, and aspirational learning environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status or strong vocational/industry experience in catering, hospitality, or food production.
- Passion for practical, skills-based learning and alternative pathways.
- Ability to work with students with SEMH needs.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Commitment to creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
Preferred
- Experience in developing enterprise initiatives within an educational setting.
- Background in teaching or training within a specialist education environment.
- Knowledge of nutrition, health awareness, and employability pathways.
- Experience with curriculum development and delivery in a school setting.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary up to £46,000 per annum.
