The Opportunity:

A Senior Vocational Teacher is needed to lead and develop a practical, impactful vocational curriculum for students with SEMH needs. This role offers the chance to shape learning pathways, support student progression, and work in a progressive, innovative school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and lead an inclusive vocational curriculum tailored to SEMH learners
  • Act as Quality Nominee, ensuring all qualifications meet internal and external standards
  • Develop and expand vocational pathways including Entry Level, Functional Skills, and NVQs
  • Build strong partnerships with employers, colleges, and community organisations
  • Secure meaningful work experience and post-16 transition opportunities
  • Model outstanding vocational teaching through engaging, therapeutic practice
  • Mentor and develop vocational staff to ensure consistency and confidence
  • Manage budgets, resources, and specialist equipment effectively

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised vocational teaching qualification (e.g. Cert Ed)
  • Experience in delivering and overseeing vocational qualifications
  • Understanding of SEMH needs and behaviour in practical learning environments
  • Confidence in leading people, partnerships, and curriculum development

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum leadership or senior teaching roles
  • Background in working with students with complex needs
  • Strong knowledge of post-16 pathways and transition planning
  • Experience with employer engagement and work experience provision
