The Opportunity:

We are seeking a German Teacher Assistant to support the Modern Foreign Language Department in enhancing students' language skills. This role involves working with students at both GCSE and A-Level, contributing to teaching and learning, and participating in cultural and linguistic activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teachers in the classroom by assisting with lesson delivery and student engagement.
  • Deliver small group and individual sessions to improve students' spoken and written German.
  • Conduct speaking assessments and provide constructive feedback to students.
  • Assist in planning and delivering language-related events and enrichment activities.
  • Promote an understanding of German culture, traditions, and customs.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Department to enhance the quality of language teaching.
  • Maintain accurate records and support administrative tasks related to the MFL department.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to departmental development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent spoken and written command of the German language.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Confidence and self-motivation to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience working with students in a classroom or educational setting.
  • Ability to support students at both GCSE and A-Level levels.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or assisting with language learning.
  • Knowledge of German culture and customs.
  • Familiarity with assessment and evaluation techniques in language education.
  • Experience with digital tools used in language teaching and learning.
