The Opportunity:
A Governance Lead is needed to provide expert guidance and leadership to the Executive team and Trustees during a period of significant growth. This is a key role that supports the strategic direction and governance of a multi-academy trust.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide professional advice and leadership to the Executive team and Trustees
- Attend and minute Board and Committee meetings, ensuring legal filings are completed on time
- Support the Local Governing Bodies (LGBs) by guiding and assisting LGB clerks
- Ensure compliance with governance policies and procedures
- Maintain accurate records of all governance-related activities
- Collaborate with the CEO, Deputy CEO, and Board of Trustees on strategic matters
- Support the development and implementation of governance frameworks
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in governance roles within education
- Strong understanding of legal and regulatory requirements
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a flexible workload
- Experience with Board and Committee processes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
- Experience working within a multi-academy trust
- Knowledge of education policy and governance frameworks
- Familiarity with school improvement strategies
- Leadership experience in a similar role
- Ability to support and mentor LGB clerks
