The Opportunity:
As the Head of Design and Technology and Art, you will lead a dedicated team to shape a forward-thinking curriculum that inspires students in creative and technical fields. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on student outcomes and the future of the school’s curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a high-performing team of Design and Technology and Art staff.
- Develop and implement a curriculum that prepares students for further study, apprenticeships, and careers in creative and engineering sectors.
- Work closely with senior leadership and middle leaders to drive school improvements and maintain high standards.
- Support and engage students to achieve their full potential in the subject areas.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent and visionary approach to teaching and learning.
- Promote a culture of innovation and excellence across the department.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress and achievement, providing targeted support where needed.
- Represent the department in meetings and events, both within and outside the school.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a school setting, ideally in Design and Technology or Art.
- Strong knowledge of the subject areas and commitment to raising achievement.
- Ability to engage and support students of all abilities.
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
- Commitment to working collaboratively with colleagues and senior leadership.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or team.
- Knowledge of current trends and developments in Design and Technology and Art education.
- Experience with inclusive teaching practices and supporting diverse student needs.
- Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement strategies.
