The Opportunity:
The Head of Drama will lead a vibrant and successful department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality drama education across all key stages. This role offers the opportunity to shape a dynamic curriculum, inspire students, and contribute to the school’s thriving co-curricular and pastoral programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and strategically develop a high-performing Drama department across KS3–KS5
- Deliver excellent outcomes through effective curriculum planning and assessment
- Use data to monitor progress and implement targeted intervention strategies
- Line manage and develop staff to ensure high-quality teaching
- Oversee departmental budget, resources and curriculum compliance
- Sustain and develop a strong programme of productions and co-curricular Drama
- Teach AQA A Level Theatre Studies and BTEC Performing Arts lessons
- Contribute to pastoral care and the wider life of the school
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A well-qualified graduate with QTS and strong subject knowledge in Drama/Theatre
- Proven experience teaching Drama at KS3–KS5
- Leadership experience or clear potential to lead a department
- A track record of strong student outcomes
- The ability to inspire and motivate students and colleagues
- Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills
- A commitment to co-curricular involvement and boarding school life
Preferred
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment in Drama
- Experience in managing departmental budgets and resources
- Experience in leading and developing staff
- Experience in pastoral care and student wellbeing
