Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the English department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a differentiated curriculum tailored to the needs of students.
  • Support students with barriers to learning through individualized planning and instruction.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching practices and student outcomes.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and guidance.
  • Maintain strong communication with parents and guardians to support student development.
  • Participate in staff training and professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute to the overall development of the school’s academic and pastoral strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant degree and QTS.
  • Proven experience in teaching English at secondary level.
  • Experience working with students who have barriers to learning.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Experience with small class teaching environments.
  • Familiarity with differentiated instruction techniques.
  • Experience in a specialist or independent school setting.
