The Opportunity:
As the Head of German, you will provide academic leadership and ensure the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning in German. This role is a key driver in shaping the curriculum and fostering excellence in the subject, with the potential to influence the broader school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the German curriculum to ensure it meets the highest standards of teaching and learning.
- Support and mentor teachers within the department to enhance teaching practices and student outcomes.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support to improve learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to language learning.
- Implement and oversee the delivery of German at all key stages, including GCSE and IBDP.
- Promote the school’s mission and values, including academic excellence and character development.
- Participate in professional development initiatives and contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching practices.
- Work closely with students, parents, and colleagues to build a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience teaching German up to post-16 level.
- Strong knowledge of the English National Curriculum (KS3 and GCSE) and the IBDP framework.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a department effectively.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Commitment to the school’s mission of academic excellence and character development.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum design and implementation.
- Familiarity with Ed Tech tools and innovative teaching methods.
- Leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
- Experience with student welfare and pastoral care initiatives.
