Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead curriculum development in history, ensuring engaging and impactful learning experiences.
  • Support and mentor colleagues within the department to raise teaching standards.
  • Deliver high-quality lessons that foster critical thinking and a love of history.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school-wide priorities.
  • Promote inclusivity and ensure all students are challenged and supported.
  • Encourage student engagement in extra-curricular history activities.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the history curriculum and pedagogy.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong background in history.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school setting.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for history.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student success.

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership role within a school department.
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and best practice in education.
  • Experience in mentoring and supporting other teachers.
  • Knowledge of assessment and progression in history education.
