The Opportunity:

As Head of Physics, you will lead a dynamic and collaborative department, driving academic excellence and inspiring students through innovative teaching and practical learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic leadership and direction to the Physics department.
  • Develop and implement ambitious, future-focused curriculum schemes of work.
  • Mentor and support colleagues to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Manage a team of teachers and support staff to maintain the highest standards of teaching and learning.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to implement strategies that challenge and inspire students.
  • Ensure the integration of real-world physics and engineering concepts into teaching.
  • Promote participation in co-curricular activities, including the British Physics Olympiad and CREST Awards.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety in the Physics department.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics or a closely related discipline.
  • Proven experience teaching Physics at A-Level with a track record of excellent student outcomes.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to represent the department effectively.
  • Experience in curriculum design, assessment strategies, and continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to academic excellence and student development.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Familiarity with Edexcel International GCSE and OCR A-Level specifications.
  • Experience with innovative teaching methods and technology in the classroom.
  • Involvement in co-curricular and enrichment activities.
