The Opportunity:

As the Head of Learning Development and Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the learning experience and safeguarding policies across the school. This is a key leadership role that combines academic support with a strong focus on student wellbeing and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and implementation of learning strategies across the school
• Act as the school’s SENCO, ensuring effective support for students with special educational needs
• Oversee the creation and monitoring of individual education plans (IEPs)
• Provide guidance and support to students with IEPs across the curriculum
• Ensure appropriate access arrangements for public examinations
• Deliver and lead professional development sessions on special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
• Manage the Learning Development team and related resources
• Lead safeguarding initiatives and ensure compliance with best practices
• Coordinate with external agencies and promote a strong safeguarding culture

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Significant experience in SEND within a British curriculum setting
• Strong leadership and organisational abilities
• Commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing

Preferred

• Experience in a safeguarding leadership role
• Background in delivering INSET and professional development
• Familiarity with international educational standards
