Summary:

Head of Mathematics needed for a dynamic school. Lead the maths department and teach Years 9 - 11.

The Opportunity:

As the Head of Mathematics, you will lead and inspire the department, delivering high-quality teaching to pupils in Years 9 - 11. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on students’ academic journeys and shape a supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the mathematics department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons to pupils across the ability range, preparing them for Edexcel IGCSE.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support both the most able and those requiring additional assistance.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance departmental practices and student outcomes.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning culture within the department.
  • Stay up to date with developments in mathematics education and pedagogy.
  • Represent the department in meetings and contribute to school-wide initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in teaching mathematics at secondary level.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with experience in departmental leadership.
  • Proven ability to teach pupils across a range of abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Knowledge of teaching neurodivergent students.
  • Experience with Edexcel IGCSE or equivalent qualifications.
  • Background in specialist education or pastoral support.
