The Opportunity:

As the Head of Mathematics, you will lead and inspire a team of educators to deliver high-quality mathematics instruction to students aged 11–18. This role offers the chance to shape curriculum, support teacher development, and drive academic excellence in a forward-thinking institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the mathematics department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a dynamic and challenging mathematics curriculum aligned with international standards.
  • Support and mentor mathematics teachers to enhance their professional practice and student outcomes.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to shape school-wide academic strategies and initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the department.
  • Ensure that safeguarding and child protection policies are upheld in all aspects of the role.
  • Represent the department in meetings, conferences, and school events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Minimum degree in Mathematics or a related field, along with a teaching qualification (PGCE, Diploma in Education, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience teaching Mathematics at GCSE and A Level, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience in middle or senior leadership roles within a school setting.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and the wellbeing of students.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching Further Maths at A Level.
  • Experience with international curricula such as IGCSE or A Level.
  • Demonstrated success in improving student achievement and engagement in mathematics.
  • Familiarity with professional development and leadership training programs.
