Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a high-performing mathematics department, ensuring consistent delivery of outstanding academic outcomes.
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for mathematics education, aligned with the school’s mission and goals.
- Oversee curriculum design and delivery, with a focus on problem-solving, mastery, and enrichment.
- Support and mentor staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, professional development, and continuous improvement.
- Promote student engagement through initiatives such as UKMT and STEP preparation.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring that all students achieve their full potential.
- Work closely with senior leadership to shape school-wide policies and practices in mathematics education.
- Ensure the department maintains high standards in teaching, learning, and assessment.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a senior academic role, preferably within a secondary school setting.
- Strong subject knowledge in mathematics, with a deep understanding of curriculum and pedagogy.
- Demonstrated success in achieving high academic outcomes at GCSE and A-level.
- Experience in managing and developing a departmental team.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department with a strong focus on enrichment and challenge.
- Familiarity with the Three Rivers Alliance or similar collaborative professional development networks.
- Experience in Further Maths and advanced mathematics teaching.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
