Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a high-performing mathematics department, ensuring consistent delivery of outstanding academic outcomes.
  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for mathematics education, aligned with the school’s mission and goals.
  • Oversee curriculum design and delivery, with a focus on problem-solving, mastery, and enrichment.
  • Support and mentor staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, professional development, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote student engagement through initiatives such as UKMT and STEP preparation.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring that all students achieve their full potential.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to shape school-wide policies and practices in mathematics education.
  • Ensure the department maintains high standards in teaching, learning, and assessment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a senior academic role, preferably within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in mathematics, with a deep understanding of curriculum and pedagogy.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving high academic outcomes at GCSE and A-level.
  • Experience in managing and developing a departmental team.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department with a strong focus on enrichment and challenge.
  • Familiarity with the Three Rivers Alliance or similar collaborative professional development networks.
  • Experience in Further Maths and advanced mathematics teaching.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
