Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the music department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement an engaging and inclusive music curriculum across all key stages.
- Collaborate with Performing Arts and Visual Arts to enhance creative opportunities for students.
- Support the delivery of GCSE music, with a focus on raising standards and student achievement.
- Promote participation in music across the school through extracurricular activities and events.
- Work closely with colleagues to foster a culture of innovation and professional development.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
- Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment that reflects the school’s values and mission.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in leading a music department in a secondary school setting.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum design and assessment strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High expectations for student achievement and behaviour.
- Commitment to the school’s mission, values, and ethos.
- Experience in developing and delivering music at GCSE level.
Preferred
- Experience in managing and developing extracurricular music provision.
- Background in teaching RE or other related subjects.
- Experience with inclusive teaching practices and strategies to support diverse learners.
- Leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
