The Opportunity:

As the Head of Design Technology, you will lead and inspire a team dedicated to delivering a high-quality, innovative curriculum that empowers students to become creative problem-solvers and future leaders. This role is central to shaping the educational experience and driving excellence in design and technology across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the design and technology department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a dynamic, engaging curriculum aligned with the school’s vision and educational goals.
  • Support and mentor staff, providing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to integrate design and technology into cross-curricular projects.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, ensuring that all learners achieve their full potential.
  • Represent the department at school events and parent meetings, promoting the value of design and technology.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and innovations, incorporating them into teaching and learning.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading a design and technology department in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in design and technology, with the ability to teach across key stages.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • A commitment to the school’s values and vision, including a focus on faith, respect, and ambition.
  • Experience in curriculum development and the ability to deliver high-quality teaching and learning.

Preferred

  • Experience in a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard design and technology tools and software.
  • Experience in working with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • A track record of driving innovation and excellence in education.
