As the Head of Science, you will lead and inspire a dynamic department, shaping a knowledge-driven Science curriculum that promotes curiosity and scientific thinking. This is a unique opportunity to drive excellence in teaching and learning from year 7 through to A Level, while supporting the school’s vision of positive learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shape and deliver a rich, knowledge-driven Science curriculum that inspires curiosity and scientific thinking
  • Drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning across all Science disciplines
  • Foster a culture of high expectations, collaboration and professional growth within the department
  • Manage and maintain the use of recently refurbished laboratory facilities
  • Champion the importance of Science within the school and community, enhancing its visibility and impact
  • Support and develop staff through professional growth opportunities
  • Contribute to a thriving enrichment programme that extends learning beyond the classroom
  • Ensure effective use of resources and manage departmental budgets

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a Science department
  • Strong subject knowledge in Science, with a preference for Chemistry
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team of teachers
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department through continuous improvement initiatives
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language
  • Background in a school with a strong focus on student achievement and well-being
  • Experience in working within a collaborative and supportive leadership team
