Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Sociology department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across key stages 4 and 5.
  • Develop and implement a dynamic and innovative curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
  • Support and mentor a team of experienced and committed teachers.
  • Monitor and improve student outcomes, ensuring consistent progress and achievement.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school-wide priorities.
  • Promote a culture of continuous professional development and staff engagement.
  • Champion extracurricular opportunities that enhance student experience and personal development.
  • Work closely with the East Anglian Schools Trust to share best practices and support professional growth.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a school or college setting, preferably in a similar subject area.
  • Strong track record in delivering high academic outcomes in Sociology at GCSE and A Level.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Sociology curriculum and current educational trends.
  • Experience in managing and developing a team of teachers.
  • Commitment to promoting student personal development and extracurricular engagement.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Familiarity with the East Anglian Schools Trust and its values.
  • Experience in teacher training or professional development.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with senior leadership and external stakeholders.
