The Opportunity:

As the Head of Spanish Teacher, you will lead and inspire a successful department, ensuring the continued excellence of Spanish teaching across all year groups. You will play a key role in the wider Modern Foreign Languages Faculty and contribute to a range of enrichment activities, including cultural events and trips to Spain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Spanish department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to enhance student achievement and engagement in Spanish.
  • Coordinate and deliver enrichment activities, including cultural events, competitions, and educational trips.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Modern Foreign Languages Faculty to support cross-curricular initiatives.
  • Mentor and support other members of the department to foster a collaborative and professional environment.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted feedback and support where needed.
  • Stay up to date with developments in language teaching and incorporate innovative practices into the curriculum.
  • Represent the department at staff meetings and school events, promoting the value of language learning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in teaching Spanish at the secondary level.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with a proven ability to lead a department.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery within a school setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching French as a second language.
  • Involvement in extracurricular activities related to language learning.
  • Familiarity with modern teaching methodologies and technologies.
  • Experience in leading departmental initiatives or training programs.
