The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This role is integral to ensuring that SEND provision is effectively managed and delivered, with a focus on collaboration, intervention, and pupil progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and assist students with special educational needs and disabilities in a variety of learning environments.
  • Deliver targeted interventions in both one-to-one and small group settings.
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to develop and implement individual education plans.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing regular updates to the SENCO and teaching staff.
  • Ensure compliance with SEND legislation and statutory requirements.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and parents to support student needs.
  • Participate in professional development and training opportunities.
  • Contribute to the creation and delivery of inclusive learning strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) status or equivalent qualification and experience.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
  • Relevant SEND training or demonstrable experience working with pupils with SEND.
  • Experience of delivering interventions in one-to-one and small group settings.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
  • Experience of monitoring and recording pupil progress.
  • Understanding of SEND legislation and statutory requirements.

Preferred

  • Experience of working in a school setting (primary or secondary) or with pupils with EHCPs and/or complex needs.
  • Knowledge of a range of SEND needs and effective strategies to support them.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
