The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant (SEND) to support students with special educational needs and disabilities. This role involves providing in-class support and delivering targeted interventions to help students achieve their full potential. The ideal candidate will be passionate about inclusion and committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the learning and well-being of pupils with SEND through in-class assistance and targeted interventions.
  • Work under the direction of the SENCO and subject teachers to implement planned strategies.
  • Assist in enabling pupils to access the curriculum and make progress.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Undertake training in SEND and relevant areas to enhance support.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Contribute to the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum across all phases.
  • Support safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • Experience supporting learning in a classroom or similar setting.
  • Basic understanding of SEND and inclusive education.
  • Awareness of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Patient, supportive, and empathetic approach.
  • Commitment to inclusion and enabling pupils to achieve their potential.

Preferred

  • Experience in a SEND setting.
  • Willingness to learn and develop professionally.
  • Experience with curriculum delivery and intervention planning.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • £9,834.58 per annum (pro rata of £24,867).
  • 20 hours per week during term time (34 weeks) plus attendance at INSET and Safeguarding training.
  • Flexible working hours (8.30am to 12.30pm Monday to Friday).
