The Opportunity:

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with complex needs and ensuring they receive the highest standard of care and education. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teachers in the classroom and assist with lesson planning and delivery.
  • Work one-on-one or in small groups with students, providing individualized support and guidance.
  • Manage classroom resources and ensure a safe, organized learning environment.
  • Support students during trips and visits, ensuring their well-being and engagement.
  • Engage with students during lunchtimes and social activities to promote positive interactions.
  • Assist in managing heightened behaviors and ensuring the safety of all students.
  • Participate in therapy sessions and contribute to the holistic development of students.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop academic and extra-curricular opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children with complex needs, including SEMH and SEND.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of students.

Preferred

  • Experience in a therapeutic or trauma-informed setting.
  • Previous experience as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of attachment theory and trauma-informed practices.
  • Ability to contribute to curriculum development and extra-curricular programs.
