The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. This is a dynamic and impactful role that requires resilience, creativity, and a strong commitment to child development and education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching and learning through 1:1 and small group sessions
  • Manage classroom resources and ensure a safe, engaging learning environment
  • Take students on educational trips and visits
  • Build positive relationships with students through social activities and meals
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies
  • Create and deliver games and activities to support social and academic development
  • Participate in therapeutic training and reflective sessions
  • Contribute to the development of the academic and extra-curricular curriculum

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with children with complex needs
  • Basic understanding of English and Maths
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection

Preferred

  • Experience in therapeutic or educational support settings
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices
  • Previous teaching or support assistant experience
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
