The Opportunity:

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in delivering tailored learning and support to students with complex needs. You will lead a team of assistants and collaborate with teachers and therapists to create a positive, structured learning environment that promotes growth and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, personalised learning tailored to each student’s unique needs and learning styles
  • Lead and manage a team of learning support assistants to ensure consistency and best practice
  • Collaborate with education and residential teams to maximise learning opportunities and support transitions
  • Implement individualised communication and learning goals in partnership with therapists and teaching staff
  • Contribute to student progress by setting targets, maintaining accurate records, and supporting assessments
  • Attend statutory reviews and meetings, preparing detailed reports as required
  • Administer medication safely in accordance with healthcare guidance and school policies
  • Support the implementation of the school’s vision and values in daily practice

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • GCSE Maths and English, Grade 4/C or equivalent
  • Experience supporting students with complex needs in an educational setting
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to manage and guide learning support assistants
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive, and structured learning environment

Preferred

  • Experience with autism-specific teaching strategies
  • Experience with implementing individual education plans (IEPs) or EHCPs
  • Experience working in a residential or therapeutic setting
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies
