The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and creative History and Politics Teacher to join our team and contribute to the development of a dynamic and engaging learning environment. This role offers the opportunity to shape the educational journey of students and support their academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging and innovative lessons in History and Politics that inspire student interest and achievement.
  • Support the school’s commitment to academic excellence by contributing to the development of the curriculum and assessment strategies.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and discussion.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to enhance interdisciplinary learning and student outcomes.
  • Participate in the school’s extensive extra-curricular programme, including leadership and adventure education initiatives.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to help students reach their full potential.
  • Engage with parents and the wider school community to promote student success and well-being.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the subject area and incorporate new ideas and resources into teaching.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant degree and QTS or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in teaching History and Politics at the secondary level.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to student-centered learning and inclusive education.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across the school.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and leading extra-curricular activities or pastoral programmes.
  • Familiarity with adventure education or leadership development initiatives.
  • Experience in a boarding or day school setting.
  • Strong track record in student achievement and engagement.
  • Passion for promoting critical thinking and debate in the classroom.
