Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality History lessons that engage and challenge students of all abilities.
  • Develop and implement effective teaching strategies that promote critical thinking and a deep understanding of History.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback to support learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to departmental planning and development.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching and leadership skills.
  • Support students in their academic and personal development, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure a cohesive and well-rounded curriculum.
  • Stay up to date with current events and developments in History to enhance lesson content and relevance.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant degree and QTS.
  • Proven experience in teaching History at Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to inspire a love of History in students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to student welfare and the promotion of positive behaviour.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching at sixth-form level.
  • Involvement in extracurricular activities related to History.
  • Experience with innovative teaching methods or technology in the classroom.
  • Leadership experience or the ability to take on additional responsibilities within the department.
