The Opportunity:
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised kitchen environment that supports the daily rhythm of the school. This is a vital position that ensures pupils receive nutritious meals in a setting that reflects the care and standards of the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Wash dishes, trays, utensils and kitchen equipment to a consistently high standard
- Maintain cleanliness across worktops, appliances, storage areas and floors
- Assist with unpacking and storing food and equipment deliveries safely
- Manage waste appropriately and empty bins regularly
- Support the School Chef by keeping all areas organised and running smoothly
- Complete daily and weekly cleaning routines
- Help with simple setup and clear-down at break and lunchtime
- Follow hygiene, food safety and health & safety procedures at all times
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A calm, steady and positive approach, even during busy periods
- A commitment to maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised environment
- The ability to work well as part of a supportive team and help wherever needed
- Clear communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with adults and young people
- Reliability, consistency and the ability to follow procedures carefully
- Comfort with lifting, carrying and being on your feet throughout the day
Preferred
- Kitchen or cleaning experience (training can be provided)
- Level 2 Food hygiene certification
