The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with SENd in the classroom, ensuring they can access learning and make expected progress. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a newly developed department focused on providing effective support for students with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support SEND students in the classroom to access learning and make expected progress.
  • Complement and support the professional work of teachers in their allocated faculty.
  • Provide best practice resources and share ideas to support the progress of SEND students.
  • Liaise with teachers within the allocated faculty regarding curriculum and support tasks and activities.
  • Deliver individual and group support to students with complex learning needs.
  • Participate in pre-learning, responsive support in the classroom, and additional interventions.
  • Contribute to the extensive SEND vision by adapting practice and engaging with educational research.
  • Undertake additional training to support student needs and develop an in-depth understanding of student needs.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • An ability to establish positive and effective working relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Commitment to participate fully in all areas of school life.
  • Commitment to undertake additional training to support student needs.
  • Willingness and engagement with educational research.

Preferred

  • Experience of working within an educational setting; practice of leading small group and 1:1 intervention sessions.
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant.
