The Opportunity:
As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the school’s facilities are safe, functional, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors. This hands-on position supports the school’s mission by maintaining the physical environment that enables learning and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Repair and maintain school buildings and mechanical and electrical equipment to a professional standard.
- Lead and supervise Estates Assistants in the performance of maintenance tasks.
- Support the wider facilities team in compliance management and health and safety procedures.
- Manage contractors performing maintenance and installation work on the school’s premises.
- Ensure all paths and external areas are clean, clear of debris, and maintained throughout the year.
- Assist with setting up rooms for school and other uses, and perform porterage tasks as required.
- Support road safety duties and safeguarding responsibilities in line with school policy.
- Undertake training courses and perform other duties as directed by the Facilities Supervisor and Head of Facilities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in building maintenance and repair.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
- Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and procedures.
- Experience in supervising and managing support staff.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection policies.
Preferred
- Experience in managing contractors and external service providers.
- Familiarity with school environments and the specific needs of educational institutions.
- Experience with compliance management and reporting systems.
- Ability to drive a minibus or willingness to undertake training in this area.
