The Opportunity:

As a Maths Mentor, you will play a crucial role in supporting learners to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with students, guiding them through challenges and helping them build confidence in mathematics. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support learners through 1:1 and small group sessions to improve mathematical understanding and confidence.
  • Collaborate with teachers to create inclusive and purposeful learning environments.
  • Identify and address learning barriers through targeted interventions and tailored support.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing regular updates to the teaching team.
  • Deliver engaging and structured lessons that align with the school’s curriculum and learning goals.
  • Work closely with the Mathematics Department to ensure consistency and quality in teaching and support.
  • Encourage a positive attitude towards mathematics and promote a growth mindset among students.
  • Contribute to departmental meetings and share insights on effective teaching strategies and student support.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • GCSE English and Maths, minimum Grade 4 or equivalent.
  • Proven experience working in an educational setting.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with students and colleagues.

Preferred

  • Experience in mentoring or supporting learners with additional needs.
  • Familiarity with UK Mathematics Trust challenges or other enrichment activities.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or similar.
  • Previous experience in a school setting with a focus on inclusion and student success.
