The Opportunity:

As a Maths Teacher Apprentice, you will begin your journey in teaching with the support of experienced professionals. This role offers a structured training programme, including 60% teaching time initially, increasing to 80% as you progress. You will be part of a collaborative and supportive environment, with access to a comprehensive CPD programme and a clear path to becoming a qualified teacher.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and assist in the teaching and learning of mathematics across all key stages.
  • Work closely with experienced teachers to develop your teaching practice and classroom management skills.
  • Deliver high-quality lessons that engage and inspire students.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training sessions.
  • Contribute to the planning, preparation, and assessment of student work.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Follow the Unity Schools Partnership ITE programme and complete the National Institute’s Curriculum for Initial Teaching Training.
  • Attend school visits and regional training days as part of the apprenticeship.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
  • A commitment to working with young people and a passion for education.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students.
  • Basic understanding of mathematics and its teaching.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or supporting learning in a classroom environment.
  • Previous experience as a teaching assistant or HLTA.
  • Knowledge of current teaching methodologies and curriculum requirements.
  • Experience with the PGCE or equivalent teacher training programme.
