The Opportunity:
As a Nurture Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students who need a structured, nurturing introduction to secondary education. This is a key position in helping students build emotional security, positive learning behaviours, and academic confidence, preparing them for future success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver high-quality, nurturing lessons tailored to individual needs
- Create a safe, structured environment that supports emotional development, self-esteem, and positive behaviour
- Plan and deliver a broad, balanced, and differentiated curriculum aligned with nurture principles
- Track and report on pupil progress, including meeting EHCP targets
- Act as the key adult for a small cohort of pupils, providing consistent support and guidance
- Collaborate with other staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive approach to student development
- Support students in transitioning to appropriate secondary pathways
- Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with parents and carers
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with relevant experience in nurture provision or special educational needs
- Experience working with students who require emotional and behavioural support
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred
- Experience in designing and delivering differentiated curricula
- Knowledge of nurture principles and best practices in emotional development
- Experience with EHCP targets and progress tracking
- Experience working in a secondary school setting
- Familiarity with safeguarding procedures and child protection
