Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, well-planned and innovative Science lessons that promote high achievement and student progress.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the quality of teaching and learning across the department.
  • Support students in developing a deep understanding of scientific concepts and skills.
  • Maintain a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment that encourages curiosity and critical thinking.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback to support learning.
  • Stay up to date with developments in Science education and incorporate new teaching methods and resources.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through extra-curricular activities and events.
  • Ensure the effective use of laboratory facilities and resources in line with health and safety standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in Science education.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Science and the ability to deliver engaging lessons.
  • Experience of teaching Science to students across a range of abilities.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take on responsibility for departmental initiatives.

Preferred

  • Experience of working in a school with a strong focus on student achievement and well-being.
  • Experience with curriculum development and innovative teaching methods.
  • Experience of leading or contributing to staff development and training.
  • Experience of using technology to enhance Science teaching and learning.
