The Opportunity:

As an Outdoor Education Teaching Assistant, you will help deliver engaging outdoor learning experiences that foster resilience, confidence, and teamwork. This role is ideal for someone passionate about using the outdoors as a tool for personal growth and development in young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and delivery of dynamic outdoor sessions, including group and 1:1 activities.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and implement medium- and long-term outdoor education plans.
  • Maintain and manage outdoor equipment safely, completing risk assessments and visit documentation.
  • Build positive partnerships with external providers such as climbing centres and watersports venues.
  • Assist in tracking and recording pupils’ academic and social progress through school systems.
  • Support the delivery of recognised award schemes such as Duke of Edinburgh and NICAS.
  • Organise and deliver enriching outdoor trips and visits that expand pupils’ experiences and aspirations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • GCSEs (or equivalent Level 2 qualification), including English and Maths
  • Experience delivering Outdoor Education sessions
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Preferred

  • Experience working with pupils with autism or communication difficulties
  • Experience with award schemes such as Duke of Edinburgh or NICAS
  • Knowledge of risk assessment and health and safety procedures
