The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated School Librarian with Literacy Support to join our team and contribute to the school’s commitment to improving student literacy. This role will involve managing the library, supporting literacy interventions, and working closely with the English faculty to enhance student learning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain the school library, ensuring it is a welcoming and resource-rich environment for all students and staff.
- Support literacy interventions and provide targeted reading assistance to students across the school.
- Collaborate with the English faculty to develop and implement literacy strategies that align with the school’s educational goals.
- Promote a love of reading through engaging events, book clubs, and library activities.
- Assist in the selection and organization of library resources, including books, digital media, and learning materials.
- Provide guidance and support to students and staff on research, study skills, and information literacy.
- Work with pastoral staff to support students with literacy challenges and ensure inclusive learning opportunities.
- Monitor and report on the usage and impact of library resources and literacy initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in library science, education, or a related field.
- Experience in library management and literacy support within an educational setting.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and support staff.
Preferred
- Experience in literacy intervention or special educational needs support.
- Familiarity with digital library systems and resources.
- Experience in curriculum development or educational support roles.
- Passion for reading and a commitment to promoting literacy among students.
