The Opportunity:
As a School Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting practical learning across the curriculum. You will ensure that all equipment is safe, up to date, and ready for use, enabling students to achieve their full potential in hands-on subjects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide efficient and timely technical support across the faculty and wider school.
- Assist students and staff with practical work and projects in workshops.
- Support other faculties and liaise with school technicians and the estates team as required.
- Maintain and inspect all equipment, ensuring it is safe, functional, and stored correctly.
- Implement and update Health & Safety protocols, including Risk Assessments and CLEAPPS guidelines.
- Manage stock levels, ordering new supplies and ensuring value for money.
- Prepare and clean faculty areas, ensuring a safe and organized working environment.
- Repair minor equipment faults and report major issues to external services.
- Store hazardous materials safely in accordance with COSHH regulations.
- Support teaching staff with lesson preparation and demonstrations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in a technical or support role within an educational setting.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and risk assessment procedures.
- Ability to maintain and repair practical equipment and tools.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Commitment to student welfare and safety.
Preferred
- Experience with CLEAPPS and Health & Safety standards.
- Familiarity with stock control systems and inventory management.
- Experience in a school environment, particularly within a practical subject faculty.
- First aid qualifications or willingness to obtain them.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
