As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of students and staff. You will work within a team of nurses to provide first aid, monitor pupil health, and ensure a safe and supportive environment for all. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first aid and medical care to pupils, staff, and visitors throughout the school day.
- Monitor and assess the general health of pupils, identifying any potential health concerns.
- Administer prescribed medications and manage medical records in accordance with school policies.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure pupils with medical needs are properly supported.
- Advise staff on health and safety protocols before school trips and other off-site activities.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked medical centre.
- Liaise with parents and external healthcare professionals when necessary.
- Participate in staff training and development related to health and wellbeing.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Registered general nurse with a valid qualification.
- Experience working with children in a professional setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
- Knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or similar healthcare environment.
- Understanding of child development and mental health.
- Experience with administering medications and managing medical records.
- Flexibility to work term-time and across different age groups.
