The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Science Teacher (Second in Charge) to lead and inspire students in Key Stages 3 and 4. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact on student learning and to contribute to a forward-thinking science department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the delivery of high-quality science teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Mentor and develop other science teachers within the department.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Science to drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
  • Promote student engagement through innovative teaching methods and the use of technology.
  • Oversee and contribute to the planning, delivery, and assessment of science curricula.
  • Support and lead in the development of extra-curricular science activities and events.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Participate in professional development and continuing education opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a good honours degree in a relevant science subject.
  • Proven experience in teaching science to Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Experience in a second in charge or leadership role within a school.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use ICT in teaching and learning.
  • Commitment to student welfare and inclusive education practices.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development or department leadership.
  • Experience with extra-curricular science activities or STEM initiatives.
  • Knowledge of current educational trends and innovations in science teaching.
  • Experience with assessment and data analysis for student progress.
