The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Science Teacher (Second in Charge) to lead and inspire students in Key Stages 3 and 4. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact on student learning and to contribute to a forward-thinking science department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the delivery of high-quality science teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Mentor and develop other science teachers within the department.
- Collaborate with the Head of Science to drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
- Promote student engagement through innovative teaching methods and the use of technology.
- Oversee and contribute to the planning, delivery, and assessment of science curricula.
- Support and lead in the development of extra-curricular science activities and events.
- Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Participate in professional development and continuing education opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a good honours degree in a relevant science subject.
- Proven experience in teaching science to Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Experience in a second in charge or leadership role within a school.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use ICT in teaching and learning.
- Commitment to student welfare and inclusive education practices.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development or department leadership.
- Experience with extra-curricular science activities or STEM initiatives.
- Knowledge of current educational trends and innovations in science teaching.
- Experience with assessment and data analysis for student progress.
