The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Science Technician to join a supportive and innovative Science Department. This role is essential in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of science education through practical lessons, equipment maintenance, and chemical management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage practical science lessons in line with curriculum requirements.
  • Maintain and store all science equipment and chemicals in a safe and organised manner.
  • Support science teachers in the delivery of lessons and the management of laboratory activities.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all science-related activities.
  • Assist with the repair, replacement, and ordering of science materials and equipment.
  • Collaborate with the Science Department to improve the quality of science teaching and learning.
  • Keep accurate records of all science equipment and consumables.
  • Promote a positive and safe working environment for students and staff.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in a science-related field.
  • Strong knowledge of science subject matter and laboratory procedures.
  • Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations in a science environment.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in managing and maintaining laboratory equipment and chemicals.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a school or educational setting.
  • IT skills, including the use of laboratory management systems.
  • Experience with curriculum planning and support for science teaching.
  • A passion for science education and student engagement.
