The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Science Technician to join a supportive and innovative Science Department. This role is essential in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of science education through practical lessons, equipment maintenance, and chemical management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage practical science lessons in line with curriculum requirements.
- Maintain and store all science equipment and chemicals in a safe and organised manner.
- Support science teachers in the delivery of lessons and the management of laboratory activities.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all science-related activities.
- Assist with the repair, replacement, and ordering of science materials and equipment.
- Collaborate with the Science Department to improve the quality of science teaching and learning.
- Keep accurate records of all science equipment and consumables.
- Promote a positive and safe working environment for students and staff.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant qualifications or experience in a science-related field.
- Strong knowledge of science subject matter and laboratory procedures.
- Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations in a science environment.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in managing and maintaining laboratory equipment and chemicals.
Preferred
- Experience working in a school or educational setting.
- IT skills, including the use of laboratory management systems.
- Experience with curriculum planning and support for science teaching.
- A passion for science education and student engagement.
