The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Science Technician to provide essential support to the science department. This role is crucial in ensuring the successful delivery of practical lessons, demonstrations, and assessments. The Science Technician will contribute to a collaborative and high-achieving learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain equipment, chemicals, specimens, and resources for science practical work, demonstrations, and assessments.
- Support teaching staff across the science faculty, including physics, chemistry, and biology.
- Collaborate with teachers to ensure the delivery of high-quality science education.
- Maintain a safe and well-organised science laboratory environment.
- Assist in the storage, organisation, and management of science resources and materials.
- Provide technical support during lessons, assessments, and examinations.
- Keep accurate records of equipment and consumables used in science activities.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of science-related projects and initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Minimum C grade GCSE (grade 4) or equivalent Level 2 qualification in Maths and English.
- A level standard of education or equivalent.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and students.
- Commitment to student development and learning.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational setting.
- Previous experience as a Science Technician or in a similar role.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and best practices.
- Experience with the preparation and maintenance of science equipment and resources.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
