The Opportunity:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex needs across all key stages. You will work closely with class teachers to help students achieve their full potential, while fostering positive relationships and promoting emotional well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with complex needs in a classroom setting, adapting your approach to meet individual requirements.
- Assist class teachers with lesson planning, delivery, and classroom management.
- Promote positive behaviour and build strong, trusting relationships with students.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to help students with their learning and emotional development.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure consistent support and communication.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Contribute to the creation of a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor student progress and report regularly to the class teacher and support team.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A genuine passion for working with young people with complex emotional, behavioural, and learning needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Willingness to undergo a DBS check and provide references.
Preferred
- Previous experience working in a classroom or therapeutic setting with students with complex needs.
- Knowledge of emotional and attachment needs in children.
- Experience with students who have autism, ADHD, or trauma-related difficulties.
- A love of animals and willingness to work in a small, animal-friendly environment.
