The Opportunity:

As a Senior Science Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring that science lessons are delivered effectively by maintaining equipment and resources. You will work closely with the Head of Department to support teaching and learning, and help develop technical services for the science department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain science equipment and resources to ensure they are in good working order.
  • Support the delivery of science lessons by providing technical assistance and advice.
  • Develop and implement technical services that enhance science teaching and learning.
  • Work collaboratively with other technicians and department staff to maintain high standards.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the science department.
  • Assist in the planning and organisation of science-related events and activities.
  • Keep accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and stock levels.
  • Provide guidance and support to students and staff on the safe use of science equipment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a Science Technician or in a similar role.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of science laboratory procedures and safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in preparing and maintaining science equipment and resources.

Preferred

  • Experience in a high-performing educational institution.
  • Knowledge of current science teaching methods and curriculum requirements.
  • Experience with CPD and staff development programmes.
  • Familiarity with state-of-the-art science facilities and equipment.
