The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in maintaining the school’s high standards of food quality and kitchen operations. This role is essential to ensuring a seamless and efficient service throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist and deputise for the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
- Ensure the consistent preparation and presentation of high-quality meals across all school catering services.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards.
- Manage and supervise kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop menus and special events.
- Monitor inventory and ensure all food supplies are ordered and stored correctly.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations in the kitchen.
- Support the school’s mission by providing nutritious and appealing meals to students and staff.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Level 2 Award in Food Safety or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and high standards of food preparation.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and school holidays.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational institution catering setting.
- Knowledge of menu planning and nutritional requirements.
- Experience in managing a team of kitchen staff.
- Familiarity with catering software or inventory management systems.
