The Opportunity:

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering specialist assessment and intervention to pupils with complex communication needs. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver bespoke speech and language therapy assessment and intervention to pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergent needs, or SEMH challenges.
  • Work collaboratively with education teams to support pupils in achieving their communication goals.
  • Maintain a caseload with the support of a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
  • Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
  • Follow the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working to ensure high-quality, person-centred practice.
  • Develop and implement support plans based on individual needs profiles.
  • Communicate effectively with families, carers, and other professionals.
  • Participate in research projects, special interest groups, and training initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • HCPC registered and registered with the RCSLT
  • Relevant experience working with individuals with complex communication profiles
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings
  • Experience of communicating with families, carers, and other professionals
  • Good relationship building, analytical, and judgmental skills
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and organisational skills
  • Competent in core areas of SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards
  • Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools and intervention methods
  • Awareness of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice

Preferred

  • Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication
  • Awareness of the relationship between arousal levels and communication
  • Full driving license and access to a car
