The Opportunity:
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering specialist assessment and intervention to pupils with complex communication needs. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver bespoke speech and language therapy assessment and intervention to pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergent needs, or SEMH challenges.
- Work collaboratively with education teams to support pupils in achieving their communication goals.
- Maintain a caseload with the support of a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
- Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
- Follow the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working to ensure high-quality, person-centred practice.
- Develop and implement support plans based on individual needs profiles.
- Communicate effectively with families, carers, and other professionals.
- Participate in research projects, special interest groups, and training initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- HCPC registered and registered with the RCSLT
- Relevant experience working with individuals with complex communication profiles
- Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice
- Experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings
- Experience of communicating with families, carers, and other professionals
- Good relationship building, analytical, and judgmental skills
- Strong communication (oral and written) and organisational skills
- Competent in core areas of SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards
- Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools and intervention methods
- Awareness of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice
Preferred
- Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication
- Awareness of the relationship between arousal levels and communication
- Full driving license and access to a car
